Privacy Policy
BrwsrFx is a browser-based video compositor. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what stays on your device. In short: your projects live in your browser, your media never leaves your machine, and you do not need an account to use the app. If you have questions, open Settings in the app and use Send feedback, or contact us at the address at the bottom of this page.
What we collect
Projects are stored locally in your browser
When you create a project, its composition settings, layer structure, keyframe data, and effect parameters are saved in your browser's IndexedDB storage, on your device only. Projects are never uploaded to a server. We cannot see them, and they do not sync between browsers or devices.
Google Sign-In is optional
You can use every feature of BrwsrFx without signing in. If you never sign in, no account data is collected. If you do choose to sign in, Google provides your name, email address, and profile photo, which are stored as a minimal profile record via Supabase, our database provider. Signing in does not unlock any features today. It is scaffolding for a future paid tier. We do not store your Google password, and we do not request access to your Google Drive, Gmail, or any other Google service.
Local media files
BrwsrFx can access a folder on your local device via the browser's File System Access API. This gives the compositor permission to read your video, image, and audio files for use in your project. Your files are never uploaded to our servers. All processing, meaning playback, effects rendering, and MP4 export, happens entirely within your browser. We do not transmit, copy, or store your media files.
Usage data
We do not run our own analytics. We do not track page views, session length, or click behaviour beyond what Google and, if you sign in, Supabase provide as part of their standard services.
Your local data and how to protect it
Because your projects live in your browser's storage, clearing your browser data, cookies, or site data for BrwsrFx will delete your projects from that browser. Projects also do not sync between browsers or devices for the same reason.
To keep a backup: connect a media folder in the editor. BrwsrFx then writes a copy of each project as a JSON file into a _projects subfolder of that folder. To restore a project, use the "Import project" button on the start screen and select the JSON file.
Third-party services
Supabase
If you sign in, Supabase stores a minimal profile row (name, email, profile photo) on our behalf. It does not store your projects. Supabase is hosted on AWS infrastructure. You can review Supabase's privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.
Google AdSense
BrwsrFx is ad-supported. We use Google AdSense to serve advertisements on the start screen, in the editor rail, and on the learn articles. Google may use cookies to serve and measure ads and to personalise them based on your browsing history across the web. You can review Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy and opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com. Disabling ad cookies does not affect your ability to use the app.
Google OAuth
If you choose to sign in, Google handles authentication on our behalf. Google's standard OAuth flow runs entirely on Google's infrastructure. We only receive the profile data described above.
Cookies
BrwsrFx uses cookies for two purposes:
- Advertising: Google AdSense sets cookies to serve and measure advertisements.
- Authentication: only if you sign in, Supabase sets a session cookie to keep you signed in.
Local project storage uses IndexedDB, not cookies. It is not sent to any server, but it is cleared by the same "clear site data" action in your browser. You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling advertising cookies will not affect your ability to use the app.
How we use your data
- To serve advertisements.
- If you sign in: to identify your account and display your name and avatar in the app.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties except as described above (Google for advertising and optional auth, Supabase for the optional profile row).
Data retention and deletion
Your local projects stay in your browser until you delete them in the app or clear your browser data for BrwsrFx. We have no copy to delete for you.
If you signed in, you can delete your account and its profile record at any time from Account Settings inside the app. On deletion, your profile is permanently removed from our database.
Local media files on your device are never uploaded and are not affected by account deletion.
Children's privacy
BrwsrFx is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of BrwsrFx after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
