Old-School TV Wipe: Venetian Blinds Transition
Venetian Blinds is a wipe that opens like window blinds — horizontal (or vertical) slats gradually reveal the next shot. It's clean and modern. Works especially well on cuts with rhythm. Adjust the number of blinds and feather for the exact look you need.
Settings used
- Direction: Vertical
- Number of Blinds: 20
- Feather: 100
Add the effect from FX | Transition | Venetian Blinds. Direction controls slat orientation — Vertical or Horizontal. Number of Blinds adjusts how many slats open (20 is balanced, adjust for density). Feather softens the edge blending. The completion parameter animates from 0 to 100 automatically during export, or keyframe it manually for custom timing.
When to use it
Use Venetian Blinds for modern, clean transitions. It works especially well on cuts that hit on a beat. Combine with fast cuts for maximum impact. Adjust feather and number of blinds for different feels — soft feather with many blinds is smooth, hard feather with few blinds is crisp and geometric. Use sparingly — it's a signature effect.
