Create a Scrolling Background Effect
Offset shifts your whole image without moving the layer itself. It's perfect for scrolling backgrounds, infinite loops, or that parallax depth effect. Unlike layer position (which moves the layer), Offset wraps the image around — pixels that leave one edge reappear on the opposite edge, creating seamless, continuous motion.
Settings used
- Offset Value: 500
Add the effect from FX → Distort → Offset. Offset X shifts the image horizontally (positive = right, negative = left). Offset Y shifts vertically (positive = down, negative = up). Animate either value over time to create seamless scrolling. The image wraps around, so it loops infinitely without seams.
When to use it
Create scrolling title sequences or crawling text backgrounds. Use it on seamless textures or patterns to create infinite scrolling effects. Animate offset to create parallax depth by offsetting layers at different speeds. Combine with looping video or animated backgrounds to build hypnotic motion sequences.
